Museo Nazionale Romano – Palazzo Altemps
Rome, Piazza di S. Apollinare 46

The General Directorate of Contemporary Creativity of the Ministry of Culture, in collaboration with the National Roman Museum – Palazzo Altemps, the MUFOCO – Museum of Contemporary Photography, and the Basilico Archive, presents the exhibition Gabriele Basilico. Rome. On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the birth of the great master of Italian photography, the exhibition offers a unique insight into his visual research.

Curated by Matteo Balduzzi and Giovanna Calvenzi, the exhibition presents for the first time to the public an itinerary exploring the major projects undertaken by Gabriele Basilico in Rome, a city deeply loved and frequently visited by the Milanese photographer. A selection of over fifty works is displayed in a narrative journey specifically designed to engage with the spaces of Palazzo Altemps, where the rooms establish a direct relationship with the subjects of the photographs on view.
